ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TODAY IS A HOUSEHOLD NAME AND SOMETIMES EVEN A HOUSEHOLD PRESENCE!

We stand on the brink of the Fourth industrial revolution and while we do not yet know how it will unfold, one thing is clear- it will primarily change the way we do things- work, travel, connect. And, the change will be unlike anything we have experienced before.

1.       The First Industrial Revolution used water and steam power to mechanize production.

2.       The Second used electric power to create mass production.

3.       The Third used electronics and information technology to automate production.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution, building on the Third, is characterized by a fusion of technologies- Artificial Intelligence (AI) blurring the lines between the physical, digital and biological spheres.

AI is ushering in a new level of capabilities. The sophistication of data-driven personalization has come a long way, and customers of today expect it.

80% of customers say the experience a company provides is as important as its products and services. (Salesforce)

The definition of good experience in the Fourth Industrial Revolution has changed. Customers not only demand relevant offers but want to be truly known and understood as individuals.

In fact, 79% of customers are willing to share data in exchange for contextualized engagement, and 88% will do so for personalized offers. (Salesforce)

No one will be able to escape AI.

What are intelligent agents, and how are they used in AI?

or

Will a super-intelligent machine/algorithm outsmart the human race?

These and other such questions make it immensely clear that we cannot escape the outcomes of AI in the decades to come. We can only imagine how things will be changed.

And, we are the CHANGE; one of the pioneer startups in India, FUELLING the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

As with pretty much any startup, if you’re not successfully solving a problem that customers are willing to pay for, you don’t have a startup.

This raises the question- do we really need to build an AI? Just because AI is an approach to solving many problems it might not be the only way to do so.

A good product solves a real-world problem.

It’s no good having an AI that can just address you with your first name for personalization and then every time you want to book a flight you have to share your details, your preferences and then the AI shows you 30 odd flights out of which 27 are irrelevant to you.

We believe in this kind of product or personalization or experience and much more, we believe in the real connection- one-to-one; buddy-to-buddy.

We have integrated unique and exclusive AI tech to make travel effortless for you, our user, by understanding the context of what you say.

For example, when you say,

“Genie, find me the cheapest early morning flight from Delhi to Hong Kong a day before Christmas

What does the AI at OGenie do –

Catch the source – Delhi; destination – Hong Kong, date – Dec 24; criteria – cheapest, early morning; intent – find/buy a flight ticket

We extract the right information to identify and segment the entities and classify them under various predefined classes to offer customized flight results, that too within a few seconds. And, it is not only for one domain- we plan to address multi-domain queries and offer its solution.

If you say, ‘Genie, on the way to my brother’s house, I need to book flight tickets for both of us’.

Now let’s see this sentence again from an AI perspective. As it is clearly visible, this sentence is calling two services-

first: Booking a cab

second: Booking flight ticket for 2

The real challenge here is not only to classify but to segment, extract features and then relate similar tags to each other in different categories and then offer those services. A simple sentence such as “show me flights to Mumbai tomorrow” can be easily processed by any digital assistants, but we are working to go beyond the simple queries with Natural Language Processing, speech-to-text and intention recognizers to interpret the intention behind complex hardcore sentences.

And our journey only begins from here as once you do a transaction, Genie designs your journey’s next step. If you book a flight ticket, Genie continues the conversation offering other related services such as web check-in, cab, hotel booking, and other travel services.

‘Genie: You have a flight to New York this Thursday. Shall I go ahead with the web check-in?

 User: Yes

Genie: I’ll go with the window seat as usual

User: Go ahead.

Genie: Done. Shall I book a cab?

User: Yes, book it 3 hours before the flight time

Genie: Done. We haven’t booked a hotel room yet? Shall I look for one near Times Square?

User: No, this time find one near Chinatown.

Genie: I’m on it’

We are simultaneously working on adding support to languages in future, so when you talk in Hinglish Genie would understand!

‘Genie- Hey, what travel plans.

User- meri Thursday ko Mumbai ki flight book karo, aur airport se ghar ke liye cab.

Genie- Will it be the usual flight you take, AI 565?

User- Yes

Genie- Booked your ticket. Booking a cab from Mumbai airport to your home at Colaba.’

Genie would understand you, your language, your travel requirement and without pestering, gets to work.
